Dr. Bennion was born in Jerome, ID, and is thrilled to be able to practice in Treasure Valley. He is an expert comprehensive ophthalmologist and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
After receiving his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University, he completed medical school at West Virginia University, where he graduated with top honors. He completed his residency training in the military at the San Antonio Uniformed Service Health Education Consortium. He served as a Major in the U.S. Air Force at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, where he served as Chief of Ophthalmology. While in Alaska, Dr. Bennion enjoyed providing our service members and veterans with the best eye care available. Also, during his time in the military, he deployed to Afghanistan as an eye trauma surgeon. He specializes in anterior segment surgery including cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, implantable collamer lens implantation (ICL), minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and LASIK. In addition, Dr. Bennion provides treatment for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye.
Dr. Bennion loves spending time with his wife and four children, and is excited that his kids are getting old enough to go backpacking! He is an identical twin, was homeschooled as a child, and learned Russian while living in Siberia for two years.
